AvalonBay Communities relies on DAR for SoMi Market

First Florida Constructors and AvalonBay Communities have entrusted the completion of doors, frames, hardware, millwork, & bath specialties to DAR Finish Specialties, Inc.

"AvalonBay Communities (NYSE: AVB) broke ground on an apartment complex in South Miami that will include a Fresh Market on the ground floor.

The property previously had a Winn-Dixie store.

AvalonBay is building 290 apartments and 31,000 square feet of retail, including a 27,000-square-foot grocery store. While the developer hasn’t disclosed the name of the grocery tenant, county records show that AvalonBay affiliate Avalon SoMi LLC signed a lease in May with Greensboro, North Carolina-based The Fresh Market for this location.

The nearest Fresh Market locations to South Miami are currently in Coconut Grove and Kendall.

The apartments will range from studios to three-bedroom units, and include some townhouses and two-story lofts with dedicated workspaces.

Amenities will include a lounge, workspace, private dining room, pool deck, fitness center and wellness terrace.
